Algotec time to market reduced through supply partnership with IGT

Algotec Limited, a leading provider of neuromodulation devices used to manage chronic intractable neuropathic pain of the trunk and limbs, unveiled their first universal neuromodulation device, the NeuroStimulator, at the recent IASP meeting in Sydney, Australia.  The NeuroStimulator delivers controllable electrical stimulation directly to the target site to reduce pain, decrease the use of narcotic medications and improve the mobility and quality of life for sufferers of the chronic symptoms of hyperalgesia and allodynia.

The NeuroStimulator is a compact portable device, generating low-voltage pulses of variable amplitude, rate and duration directly to the patient's affected area.  IGT Industries design, manufacture, test and supply the complete PCB-based front panel sub-assembly and enclosure for the unit to Algotec, who then add the main PCB and undertake final test and shipment.  The IGT MMI provides soft-touch operation of the control keys; it incorporates display windows and backlighting, which is achieved by using light guides from high output brilliant white LEDs mounted on the integral interface PCB.

There was considerable time pressure during the development phase as the launch date at the Australian conference approached: to meet the deadline IGT were able to supply initial prototypes within four weeks and pre-production samples from hard tooling a further three weeks from sample approval.  IGT is now in the process of obtaining qualification to ISO 13485, a mandatory requirement for medical equipment manufacture, enabling it to produce the complete unit for Algotec in the future.
