Installation time has been significantly reduced through a new patented "plug and play" concept, which utilises a special terminal block that provides a common interface for both intelligent and non-intelligent versions of the device. The terminal block is initially fitted with a simple continuity link, enabling the wiring of the fire alarm system to be tested for open, short circuit and earth fault without the manual call point unit itself in place. Upon final commissioning, the continuity link is removed and the terminal block is then plugged directly into the back of the MCP, so no re-termination is required and no time is wasted. To protect the integrity of the overall system, the fire system will go into alarm if the lid of the MCP is removed without isolating the device from the panel. The MCP can be used as either a break glass or re-settable device without any additional components having to be fitted, so switching operating technique takes a matter of seconds. A unique dual clean contact and 470 Ohm resistor dual function conventional device is now available as well as versions with dedicated normally open, normally closed and 470 Ohm resistor contact sets. Changing from one to the other is a simple matter of mating the push fit 'plug and play' terminal block, reducing stock holding requirements and making one product compatible with different system types. The new MCP also provides the complete solution for addressable applications through a modular design that offers a fully integrated solution. The addressable MCP can be supplied with optional built-in isolation, providing short circuit protection without having to fit separate loop isolators, again reducing installation time without jeopardising the integrity of the overall system. *** Ends: body copy 322 words *** Notes to Editors.
