EN54 (2000) Approved multi-criteria analogue addressable photo-thermal fire detector with 'Auto-Learn' capability Released 10 August 2001 System Sensor Europe has announced the new 2251TEM, an analogue addressable multi-criteria fire detector which combines optical and thermal detection with onboard microprocessor control to give high false alarm immunity, programmable day/night settings and auto-adjustable response. The 2251TEM has three standard fixed alarm settings to enable the detector to be characterised to its operating environment. Drift compensation algorithms minimise the effect of dust contamination in the detection chamber to maintain the chosen sensitivity level; if the maximum compensation level is exceeded, a "maintenance-required" signal will be generated. In addition to the fixed settings, a two-level "Auto-Learn" facility automatically adjusts the sensitivity to compensate for activity within the protected area - for the ultimate in spurious alarm reduction, the unit can be programmed to operate in Day/Night mode with the optical detector only operational when the area is unoccupied. The 2251TEM is fully compatible with existing System Sensor communication protocols, so - with the exception of the thermal only operation - no panel software engineering is required to take advantage of the enhanced feature set. The unit can be mounted in any System Sensor addressable base, enabling it to be retro-fitted into existing systems if required. It has the same 45mm low profile as all other optical detectors, making it unobtrusive when installed. *** Ends 210 words *** Notes to Editors.
