Official opening of System Sensor Fire Detectors, Moscow Released 14 July 2000 System Sensor Fire Detectors Moscow, the fifth System Sensor manufacturing plant to come on-stream, was officially opened at the end of June 2000. Located in Moscow, the completely refurbished 1000 sq. m. facility is already manufacturing smoke detectors and audible-visual products for the Russian and CIS markets. David Harvey, Managing Director of System Sensor Europe, told the one hundred and forty guests, who included General Rubtsov, Head of the Moscow Regional Fire Brigade, Heads of Regional Departments and Ministries and the Head of the Russian Approvals Agency "VNIIPO", that the opening of the plant is a significant milestone in the continuing global development of System Sensor. "We are the world's largest detector manufacturer," he said, "this new facility enables to combine world-class design and manufacturing technology with a strong local presence, a formulae we have successfully used to grow our business throughout the USA, Europe and the Far East. We only work with fire company partners who share our ideals of high quality and excellent service, and we have already forged strong links with some leading Russian companies. Denis Sebentsov, General Manager of the Russian company, welcomed the additional benefits of local manufacturing. "We have been successfully selling imported System Sensor detector for some years; now, together with our fire company partners, we are much better placed to give the service and support that our rapidly-growing market deserves. We can be far more responsive to market demands, our stock holdings are available to our partners on short delivery times and we can offer local technical support. We are also making a significant contribution to the economy through job creation and local component sourcing. The initial complement of employees have all received extended product and technology training at Pittway Tecnologica, the main System Sensor Europe manufacturing plant in Trieste, Italy, where, under the direction of President Vincenzo Nesta, well in excess of two million detectors a year are manufactured. Addressing the delegates, he said, "It was only in 1990 that we opened the Trieste factory; it was not much bigger than the factory we are in today, but in the last ten years we have invested more than $10 million in extensions and plant to give us one of the most up-to date facilities in Europe. I am looking forward to the time when the Moscow plant produces more detectors than we do in Italy!" *** Ends: 391 words *** Notes to Editors.
