System Sensor opens Indian manufacturing facility Released 30 November 2001 System Sensor India, the sixth manufacturing plant in the group, is officially opening on 1 January 2002. Located in Gurgaon, a new industrial development close to New Delhi, the LPC Approved plant will initially manufacture the advanced new Series 300 conventional detector family for the Indian and other markets in the region. The new company will provide products and technical support to the established OEM partners already operating in the sub-continent; OEMs and existing distributors will now be able to purchase locally manufactured smoke and heat detectors, meeting System Sensor's established global quality and performance standards, at very competitive prices compared with imported alternatives. Arun Khazanchi, Director and General Manager of the new company, said, "This is a very significant development for the whole Indian fire industry. We are the first global detector manufacturer to invest in India, a market with huge potential. Agreement has already been reached with additional OEM and distribution partners throughout India who will provide increased geographic coverage and, in the case of the OEMs, develop new intelligent control panels compatible with the System Sensor communication protocols. We are able to offer world class products supported by local service, an outstanding combination." The new Indian company has full access to the complete range of System Sensor analogue addressable and conventional smoke and heat detectors from other parts of the group. Manufactured in the USA, Mexico, China, Italy and Russia, System Sensor India will offer detection products suitable for installations ranging from a simple conventional system to a fully networked multi-panel campus-wide intelligent system. As demand increases, additional product families will be manufactured in India, enabling partners, installers and end users to take advantage of the savings in import duty and lower production costs associated with local manufacturing. *** Ends: body copy 295 words *** Notes to Editors.
