The latest step function increase in high end network bandwidth, the emerging roll-out of 10GBase-T systems, will reinforce the existing trend. To meet and exceed the present and expected needs of server manufacturers, the load rating of the new IMserv II from APW Enclosure Solutions has been increased to 900kg and the structural rigidity of the frame has been increased by 60% To address the ever-increasing cooling requirements, IMserv II can now dissipate more that 5kW of heat with only a 10 degree rise in the internal temperature. The open area in all ventilated doors is increased to more than 60% and a new design of top cover, fitted with a high performance fan tray rated at 1000cfm, three times the capacity of the standard unit, has been introduced. The original IMserv, introduced in 2001, redefined the design and functionality of the networking enclosure: IMserv II reflects the changing requirements of the server manufacturer and user. A future-proofed, multi-platform enclosure, IMserv II allows users to mix and match between different makes of server in the same housing without having to modify the standard enclosure in any way. All rack-mounted servers from mainstream manufacturers can be fitted using their standard slides. All doors have three-point locking, operated with a swing handle that fits standard 25 x 50mm cutouts, allowing a full range of off-the-shelf mechanical and electronic locks to be fitted without having to modify the door in any way. The side panels can now only be removed after releasing an internal catch. Space-saving double rear doors can be specified for installations where deep enclosures overhang the aisles between the rows of cabinets. The design of the 19" panel mountings has been improved to give more space at each side for fitting telescopic slides, the three-section rear panel mounts allow servers of different depths to be fitted and new cable trays provide better and easier cable management in both stand-alone and bayed configurations. A number of slight styling changes have subtly updated the unit's appearance and changes in the design and construction of the panels and doors have improved their rigidity, giving a very smooth latching action as they close. *** Ends: body copy 377 words *** Notes to Editors.
