Segmented IMserv server housing Released 29 November 2002 APW Enclosure Products has introduced a further variant of its IMserv server rack. Developed to meet the needs of data centre owners, hosting providers and other organisations housing hardware and software services for multiple customers and/or applications, the 42U or 47U high, 600mm wide and 1000mm deep IMserv can be segregated into two, three or four independent secure sections. Each section has its own 130-degree opening perforated front door, fitted with a swing handle and single point combination lock. The rear door is also perforated; the dividers, sides and top are solid, thereby ensuring that the front to back airflow is optimised. Common services to each section are provided. Cable entry apertures, fitted with brushes, are provided in the top and base, with 100mm x 80mm cable ducts on both sides of the rear of the cabinet. 4-channel signal cable ducts run the full height of the unit, with single independent breakouts into each segment of the enclosure; a separate full height, single channel, power cable duct is also provided, again with access into each sector. IMserv is multi-vendor friendly and hence future-proof. The mechanical configurations of all servers available from the leading manufacturers can be accommodated within IMserv, enabling users to ignore the physical differences between different manufacturers’ products when making their server selection. *** Ends: body copy 218 words *** Notes to Editors.
