IMnet II, IMserv II and IMRAK raft system reduces cable installation costs in data centres

The plan area of server racks has become steadily larger to accommodate ever-deeper servers and a higher density of cables; 1000 x 800mm is now not unusual.  Enclosure Solutions has introduced its new raft system, a floor tile replacement plinth, to overcome the problem of larger racks overhanging adjacent tiles, locking them down and restricting access to the under-floor cables.  Traditionally, to install cabinets in data centres with false floors, a hole is cut in the appropriate floor tile and the cables are fed up through the base, an effective method providing the rack conformed to the 600 x 600mm dimensions of the standard floor tile.  Using the raft system saves the cost of a floor tile and the labour in cutting it.  It also gives the largest possible aperture through which to run cables and improves access to the under-floor cables themselves by allowing adjacent floor tiles to be removed.

The raft, which is locked down to the floor stringers, replaces one or more floor tiles and the enclosure is, in turn, bolted down to the raft unit using adaptors specific to each rack family.  The rack can be positioned centrally or with a front or rear overhang as required.
