EXPLOSION PROOF LOUDSPEAKERS Released 15 August 2000 The new BEx 15 and 25 Watt Explosion Proof loudspeakers from European Safety Systems have peak outputs of 113 and 117dB(A) at 1m at 2kHz respectively, making them ideal for public address use in noisy environments. The high efficiency re-entrant horn design produces a high sound pressure level per input unit power input across the operating frequency range; panel listening and sound reproduction tests have confirmed that the units produce clear, distortion free reproduction for both speech and tone. The spatial distribution of the sound is almost constant through an arc of 160 degrees to the front of the unit, giving excellent sound dispersion over a wide range, with an effective range of 40m in an environment with an 85dB(A) ambient noise level. Total frequency range is 200 to 5000Hz. The units are available as EEx d and EEx de versions; they are suitable for Zone 1 & 2 operation, Gas Groups IIC, IIB and IIA and they conform to BS5839 Part 8. A major benefit is the very large termination area in both the EEx d and the EEx de versions, making installation a much simpler and easier process, particularly when using large diameter solid cable. The BEx range will accept cables up to 4mm2. *** Ends: 206 words *** Notes to Editors.
