Hammond Electronics opens up in Adelaide Released 31 October 2002 Hammond is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of small die-cast aluminium, plastic and metal enclosures, with manufacturing in Canada, the US and Europe. The product range extends to more than 3000 different designs and sizes of general purpose, heavy duty, waterproof and flanged boxes, desk consoles and instrument cases for applications throughout the electronic, electrical and general industrial market sectors. To serve the important Australasian market, Hammond has set up its latest subsidiary, Hammond Electronics Pty Ltd. Situated in Adelaide, where the central location enables next-day shipping and infrastructure costs are lower, the new operation is headed up by Charles Cookson. Charles has an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering - specialising in Electronics and Telecommunications - and more than 30 years personal experience in Australia in component distribution and the development from prototype to production of a large range of electrical/electronic products. In addition to his technical knowledge, he has a good understanding of the special Australian needs for flexibility and reliability in the supply chain to electrical/electronic manufacturers. Hammond’s route to market is primarily indirect through national and specialised distributors. Hammond products are stocked by Farnell, RS Components, Soanar and other national majors; agreements with local distributors, serving customers throughout Australia, have also been concluded. A full distributor list can be found on www.hammondmfg.com; Hammond itself will be holding stock in Adelaide to support the distribution channel with rapid deliveries, continuing the company’s global approach of superior personalised service and collaborative success by working together with distributors and their customers. The web site is the prime source of information about Hammond products. Individual drawing of each part number can be downloaded as a PDF or AutoCAD .dxf file, enabling customers easily to design their front panels, position cable entries within the enclosure and define cut-outs and apertures without having to redraw the enclosure. *** Ends: body copy 305 words *** Notes to Editors.
