HONEYWELL ACQUIRES KAC ALARM COMPANY LTD

Honeywell has significantly strengthened its Safety and Security Solutions (SSS) business with the acquisition of KAC, the world's largest call point manufacturer.  KAC's range of intelligent and conventional call points are an excellent product fit with the other Pittway companies, Notifier, Ademco and System Sensor, which form the nucleus of the Honeywell SSS business.  Honeywell acquired the Pittway Corporation earlier in 2000 to complement its existing expertise in HVAC and building management systems; the purchase of KAC further reinforces this already strong division.

KAC Alarm Co. Ltd. was founded in 1975, and currently employs some 170 people at its facilities in Alcester and Redditch, UK.  Following the purchase, Ron Reid, the founder, is leaving the company, and David Wilson, who has been with KAC for 5 years, is promoted from General Manager to Managing Director.  "I am extremely pleased to be part of the new team who will take KAC forward", he commented.  "The combination of our expertise in call point technology, the world-wide presence and capabilities of the three major Pittway companies supported by Honeywell's resources, will enable us to provide an even better service to our customers.  We will be able to draw on group resources to speed up our new product introduction programme and we will benefit from technology sharing with our new sister companies.  I am very confident that our customers will derive significant benefits from this acquisition." 

KAC will operate as a stand-alone company within the SSS group.  Its core business will continue to be centred on the design, manufacture and supply of call points, and it will continue to offer excellent service levels, high quality products and close working relationships with its existing world-wide customer base.
