Building on the experience gained from an installed base of tens of millions of devices, Series 200 Advanced offers substantial cost savings for installers, enhanced configurability, improved management and control for fire systems integrators and outstanding detection performance and false alarm immunity for end users. To support existing systems, the new generation maintains full electrical and mechanical backwards compatibility with previous versions. Series 200 Advanced family consists of six new fire detectors: three heat detectors, 58° and 78° fixed temperature and rate of rise; optical smoke; photo-thermal multi-sensor and the unique PTIR detector, which provides the performance of ionisation technology without the environmental drawbacks. All devices are fitted with twin bi-colour LEDs that provide red, amber and green local status indication. The optical detection chamber is completely new, and minimises the effect of settling dust and reduces insect ingression to minimise false alarms. A new base supports both flush and surface mounting requirements with cable entry aperture significantly larger than the previous design, reducing install time and cost. All models include the new digital Series 200 Advanced Protocol and are available with or without integrated panel controllable electrical isolation. The new digital protocol enables up to 159 devices and modules per loop with full two-way communication. Output devices such as sounders and strobes are automatically synchronised across the entire system and are fully controllable from the panel, enabling tone selection and output levels to be set at each device. The powerful combination of hardware and software moves fire detector performance to a new level, offering improved life safety through faster and more effective detection while simultaneously reducing the disruption caused by false and nuisance alarms. *** Ends: body copy 295 words *** Notes to Editors.
